Leadership Intern Program

The Leadership Intern Program was implemented to promote mentoring of new members, to develop future chapter leaders, and to promote innovative chapter practices.

We have ten students participating in the program in the 2024-2025 year.

Christopher Castaneda-Jaramillo is senior nursing student at Indiana University South Bend Chris is becoming a nurse to be able to lead and encourage those in his community, so they too can be something more. He acknowledges and holds his Hispanic community close and tries to help them wherever possible. Becoming one of the many Hispanic male nurses means so much to him as he can reach towards more individuals who need access to care. Chris would love to work in critical care. Chris is always eager to build on his confidence and leadership skills, not only in what pertains to nursing, but in the real world. This is the main reason for why he
chose to apply for the Alpha Chapter’s Leadership Intern Program!

Tinsley Moffatt attends IU Indianapolis Once Tinsley graduates, she wants to work in the adult cardiovascular intensive critical care unit for a couple of years before applying for CRNA school Tinsley was prompted to apply for the Alpha Chapter’s Leadership Intern Program when she saw the opportunity in her email. When she discovered this intern program, she knew she had to find out what it was all about. She spent much time looking into the website and discovered what it was, what they support, their purpose, etc. She thought this was something that seemed fun, interesting, and a great opportunity she could be a part of and contribute to.

Stephanie Jamison attends IU Fort Wayne. Stephanie would like to work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after graduation. She has a passion for working with children and has always gravitated towards babies. In the next five years she sees herself working full-time in the NICU She applied for the Alpha Chapter’s Leadership Intern Program because she felt like this would be a good place to start with building connections in the healthcare community.

Hiley Obermeyer is currently a senior in the nursing program at IU Columbus and a part of the honors program Upon graduation, Hiley would like to work in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) taking care of infants. Hiley recently got engaged and is busy with wedding planning in preparation to get married next year. She is so excited for the potential opportunity to work in the NICU and hopes to still be pursuing this passion in the next five years. The community that the Alpha Chapter provides prompted Hiley to apply for the intern program. She looks forward to working with peers at the IU Columbus campus to spread the word about the chapter and create meaningful community service projects.

Eden Goodin attends IU Southeast Once Eden graduates, she wants to work in a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Eden sees herself as an established cardiac ICU nurse, possibly seeking higher education as a nurse practitioner. The values represented by the Alpha Chapter’s Leadership Intern Program were ones that aligned closely with Eden’s own. She believes that she can further develop her leadership skills and potential by working together with others, stretching herself with new opportunities and activities, and learning more about the nursing community around her.

Tracy Driver chose to enroll in the nursing program at Indiana University Columbus because the campus offered a convenient commute from her hometown of North Vernon and provided a high-quality education with strong academic programs. Tracey is viewed as a leader within her cohort and was motivated to apply because of her desire to further develop as a leader, refine her leadership skills, gain hands-on experience, and connect with peers equally dedicated to excellence. Tracey plans to work as a registered nurse and pursue a master’s degree. After obtaining her graduate degree, she hopes to return to Indiana University Columbus as an adjunct nursing professor to help shape and inspire future nurses.
